Lot description
Grade: XF-
Reference: Paszkiewicz T.1.8, Kopicki 8983 (R6)

This brakteat is considered to be the oldest coin of the Teutonic Knights. As Witold Garbaczewski points out, "The symbolism of this composition is clear - knights with a cross on their cloaks carry the banner of Christianity to the pagan lands of the Prussians."

In the former literature, its issuance was attributed to the mint in Chelmno, which Boris Paszkiewicz disagrees with, clearly indicating Torun.

Variety: a cross made of four balls joined together. An arm of seven balls holds a three-pronged pennant with four balls. On the left side five balls.

Very rare item
