A beautifully crafted medal commemorating Poland's recapture of Kamieniec Podolski, which was restored to the Crown by the Peace of Karlovice in 1699.
A thaler-sized medal and sometimes described as such (1.5 thalers).
The medal has a propaganda character, celebrating the deeds of August II. As we read in the Catalogue of the Royal Castle Collection: "the corona muralis on the head of the personification of Kamieniec Podolski emphasizes the war merits and personal participation of the ruler in the victorious war with Turkey. The recapture of Podolia along with the fortress was in accordance with the obligations contained in the pacta conventa sworn by the king."

Reverse: panorama of Kamieniec Podolski on the Smotrycz River above a kneeling allegory of the city wearing a crown of masonry and with a shield of Podolia. In the rim:
GLORIOSE RECUPERATUM D 22 SEPT CAMINIEC IN PODOLIA.
Happily recovered on September 22 Kamieniec Podolski.
On the rim the inscription: DIVINO ANNVENTE NVMINE EX VOTO NON INIQVO NON INIVISTO FELICITER ET
With divine patronage and according to the wishes of the righteous and just happily (the highlighted letters form a chronostich of the date 1699).
