A very rare version of the medal commemorating the 1706 peace treaty.
Medals from this period with a bust of the Swedish king, Charles XII (FELICITAS type) are rare in the trade. We have this type, with a depiction of August II, on offer for the first time.
Interesting, among other things, because of the representation of the real consequences of the concluded treaty - the loss of the title of King of Poland by Augustus, as we see in the titulature, where there is only REX, already without POL).
The Treaty of Altranstädt, signed on September 24, 1706 at Altranstädt Castle, was the peace ending the Third Northern War between King August II of Poland and Elector of Saxony, and King Charles XII of Sweden.
Obverse: bust in wreath and armor, clockwise. In the segment the year MDCCVI. In the rim:
FRIDER AUGUST REX ET ELET SAX
Reverse: the Sun rising from behind the mountains. In the rim:
NONDUM APPARUIT(not yet shown).
Silver, diameter 26 mm, weight 6.36 g.
