Collecting a complete royal suite is a collector's challenge for many years. Original silver-minted medals from this series appear in the trade rarely, reaching high prices. We have this one dedicated to King Ladislaus I the Elbow High in our offer for the first time.
Very nice state of preservation. It is a medal in the patina of an old collection, with preserved natural mint luster. Visible on its surface parallel, closely following shallow lines are traces of the glyptic machine, which was used to make engravings, among others, for Raczynski's Cabinet of Polish Medals (which we wrote about in more detail on our Facebook page).
The medal comes from the early, first group made in 1791, for which 11 pairs of stamps were prepared by the king's court medalist Jan Filip Holzhaeusser (signature I.P.H.F. under the bust).
