The first Polish brakteat with an image of the ruler on horseback.
A cherished issue of Mieszko III belonging to the group of his Latin coins. Depicting a rider on a horse (without additional attributes), facing right, with the inscription MESI in the field. The iconography was probably modeled on the denarii of the princes of Boleslaw the Bold.
According to Vytautas Garbaczewski, the image symbolized Mieszko as a warrior ready to defend his subordinate territory.
Beautiful state of preservation. Natural mint luster, deep minting.
