An exquisite item, made by one of the most famous and talented Polish goldsmiths - Karol Filip Malcz. Born in 1797 in Warsaw, he practiced in goldsmith's workshops in France, Italy, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Hungary from 1818-27. After returning to his homeland, he made tinker's art and opened his own studio and store. His silverware is characterized by great craftsmanship, precision and attention to detail. In 1864, he handed the business over to family-affiliated silversmith August Theodore Werner.
Candlestick consisting of two elements. On the side of the base, silver punches are scored, the maker's name in italics - Malcz, his trademark - an anchor in an oval, and Polish silver punches 2 (800). Candlestick hallmarked in 1855, in Warsaw, by probie Walery Kostrebski.
