The first circulating thaler of Ladislaus IV, in very nice condition for him.
It is a vintage inaugurating a long period of minting coarse coinage during the reign of this ruler. Thalers, mainly at the crown mint in Bydgoszcz, were minted throughout the reign of King Wladislaw. This had to do with the ban on the minting of small coinage introduced by his father, Sigismund III, in 1627.
The present piece is attractive, with natural surface mint luster and good detail, which in the case of the longest-circulating mintage is noteworthy.
In addition, with a rare, especially for high denominations, error in the king's titling . On the reverse, instead of GOT, we have COT (the letter C struck from the same punca as the C of SVEC).
Jan Dostych referred to this error as a high R7 rarity, but did not note it for the variant with dots at the beginning and end of the legends.
