The last of four proofs minted in pure silver with a royal portrait on the obverse.
A distinctive coin of King Stanislaw August dating from the second issue of proof coins, in 1771. The issue was made in pure silver to prevent massive counterfeiting of Polish coinage at Prussian mints.
Beautiful iconography by Jan Filip Holzhausser, depicting the mint crucible under a sentence referring to the idea of the new coins: PROBATUS MELIOR(proven better).
