A very rare type of crown thaler - minted only in this one year.
Stylistically different, richly decorated - both the royal portrait (massive) and the coat of arms shield (all ornate, instead of the simple one that dominated subsequent years of minting this denomination). It is also distinguished by the placement of the Halfkozic coat of arms in the shield under the portrait (instead of on the reverse) and the presence of the initials of the mint manager (I.I. - Jacob Jacobson).
Its rarity is confirmed, among others, by the Onebid archive, where out of 67 listings from 1993-2025 of thalers of this vintage, not once was this type.
The first vintage of thalers from the "coarse coinage" minting period. The time after the implementation of the parliamentary resolution ordering the discontinuation of the minting of fine coinage, and the issuance of only high thaler and ducat denominations.
A nice, natural piece in the patina of an old collection.
Piece from the collection of Kazimierz Zbichorski (illustrated on plates from his catalog).
